A hundred museums, cultural centers, and exhibition halls in Barcelona and its metropolitan area remain open with free admission from seven in the evening until one in the morning during the well-known Night of the Museums, organized by the Institute of Culture of the Barcelona City Council. In addition to the usual exhibitions, other cultural activities such as concerts, theater performances, dance, and poetry recitals are also held. The Night of the Museums is an initiative of the European Council, involving more than 4,000 museums from 40 European countries.
With ‘Creation & Museums,’ the Night focuses on the diverse proposals jointly developed by the Creation Factories and 11 museums in the city. This collaboration has resulted in a series of original artistic creations that offer a different perspective on perceiving and understanding the heritage or collections of these museums. The Night is a unique opportunity to discover both these projects and the spaces that inspire them, with activities for all kinds of audiences by the resident artists in these centers, forming the most festive part of the Night.
Creation & Museums represents a consolidated bond that provides us with a new perspective on the spaces, but also on history and memory, enhancing emotions through the various sensitivities of different creative disciplines.
