Project Z is Graner’s line of work focused on the emerging artist community in Barcelona working in dance and live arts. In the early 20th century, the factory where Graner is located was occupied by the company Lámparas Z, dedicated to the manufacture of z-lamps, incandescent bulbs with zirconium filaments. Currently, Project Z aims to be a meeting space, an incandescent thread connecting the city’s new creators with the goal of sharing concerns and resources and promoting collective care within the sector.
The project is structured through two avenues of work:
- On one hand, an individual support session with each artist participating in the program. The aim of this session is to generate a safe space for creators to express their needs and reflect together on the challenges (practical, discursive, and artistic) they face.
- On the other hand, a series of group meetings with the creators that allow for the formation of a flexible and non-institutionalized community capable of building complicity to develop artistic practices. Through listening, these meetings enable Graner to question how to support emergence and what tools are necessary to strengthen the journey of artists in the sector sustainably and in a situated manner.
