Project Z was initiated in 2022 as a new line of work at Graner focused on the emerging artist community in the city of Barcelona working in dance and live arts. The project’s name hides the origins and history of the Graner building. The “Z” comes from the zirconium used by the Lámparas Z factory and its incandescent bulbs, which were manufactured at Graner even before it became the Philips factory and eventually transformed into a creation center.
Project Z creates a space and time for meeting, collective listening, and knowledge transfer among all participants, aiming to create a map of shared questions, concerns, and potentialities that generate reflections, as well as possible collective tools and resources. Project Z is structured through group moments and individual conversations.
In its 2022 edition, it benefited from the collaboration of Tina Agency, with Laia Montoya and Valeria Cosi, and involved a group of artists with different experiences and backgrounds: Candela Capitán, Julia Barbany, Andrea El Ameri, Guillem Jiménez, María Jurado, Marina Pravkina, Blanca Tolsá, and Iver Zapata.
