Melissa Pérez Sousa is a resident at El Graner as part of the center’s cross-residency program, in dialogue with CAMPUS Paulo Cunha e Silva (Porto). During her residency, we have invited her to open her practice and creative process to the local community.
Using specific tools (both individual and collective) and as a starting point, the session will explore existing codes of social dances such as Street and Clubbing (Hip Hop, House, Percussion) and their modes of interpretation—how they can be embodied through movement, body drumming, footwork, speed patterns, gaze, and voice. The session will involve a practical exploration of codes inherent to the body through improvisation and composition exercises, focusing on maintaining a state of play and presence. There will also be a space to share part of the creation process of TAMBOR, the piece that has brought her to El Graner from April 23 to May 3.
Session intended for: individuals with some experience in music and dance, and professionals in the performing arts field.
