Koset Quintana

Koset Quintana is a multidisciplinary creator from Gran Canaria. She studied Drama in Tenerife until 2022, where she also trained in contemporary dance at the Teatre Victòria. To this day, she has continued her movement training in various schools, theaters, workshops, and more, focusing not only on intimate practices to prepare the body and voice but also on writing. She decided to pursue a Master’s in Theatrical Creation at UC3M, directed by Juan Mayorga (2023), where she creatively experimented with choreography in a group of twenty people, mask-making, audiovisual elements, and lighting designs. Her practices demonstrate a strong performative character and a taste for the hybridization of theatrical and plastic forms. She has authored three original dramaturgies, predominantly translating into physicality, concept, and space: de-género humano (2023, premiered at Desleal), 22 postraumática (2022), and El apocalipsis k merezco yo (2023, TFM). Most of her works have been practically ‘solo’ creations, although she is currently working on a theatrical and physical writing project that involves two performers. Additionally, she has collaborated with companies like Young Boy Dancing Group, Sol Picò, Paula Quintana, and other performers. Moreover, Koset has also worked as an educator, teaching various groups in the realm of movement and theatrical improvisation.

Residency project

Koset Quintana has shared a week of activities at Graner, experiencing our day-to-day routines and also getting to know a bit about the dance and performing arts context in the city. This was made possible through a context residency as part of the LavUp! project by Tenerife LAV, with which we collaborated. LavUp! is an annual and ongoing program that aims to promote, mediate, and support contemporary dance for young performers and creators from the Canary Islands.
