On 7 and 9 May we will hold two workshops to present EL MOVIMIENTO in the first person and to begin putting into practice some of the ideas and ways of working that are specific to the project, as well as how it will take place in the La Marina neighbourhood, turning it into El Moviment de La Marina. We invite you to take part and to get a small taste of what we propose to create together. We want everyone to come; the more diverse the group, the better. There is no need to consider age or have any previous experience — only the desire to do it together and an interest in dancing an easy, friendly, fun dance that represents us all.

MORE INFORMATION ABOUT EL MOVIMIENTO DE LA MARINA:
Guillem Mont de Palol and Jorge Dutor propose bringing together residents of La Marina of all ages and backgrounds, with the aim of collectively building El Movimiento de La Marina. This shared choreographic piece will later be offered as a gift to the city within the framework of an official ceremony as part of Boombeta, the Graner festival at the Jardins dels Drets Humans. The aim is to create and present a collective intangible heritage that emerges before our eyes and invites us, for a moment, to join the dance.
EL MOVIMIENTO seeks to be a project of artistic creation, collective and civic authorship. A movement that generates new folklore: contemporary social dances with which to identify, towards a tradition for the future.
This is a proposal led by Jorge Dutor and Guillem Mont de Palol, from the Montedutor collective, who will be responsible for generating and sustaining this space for collective creation. With the support and hosting of El Graner, a neighbourhood cultural centre, they bring their project EL MOVIMIENTO to the neighbourhood to create together EL MOVIMENT DE LA MARINA. From this space, they will facilitate a shared process in which not only the steps of this new dance will be collectively imagined and created, but also the ways of preserving, caring for and transmitting it to the wider public, as well as the pathways for it to become intangible heritage of the city.
They will propose a space for research, thinking and creation to invent new folkloric forms that represent the participating people as a community. Starting from the idea of dance as a tool for dialogue in conflict resolution, as well as for empowerment and civic awareness, the project will work with diverse groups representative of the neighbourhood’s residents. At the same time, they will propose placing the body in a social context, generating inclusive, open, transmissible and contagious dances.
