Les Archipels and Sònia Gómez

Fira Mediterrània de Manresa promotes cross-transmission spaces; in this case, we intersect three lines: the Quebec company Les Archipels; Sònia Gómez Vicente; and the Youth from the traditional dance promotion program.

Les Archipels: Created in 2019, Les Archipels is the result of the meeting between two dancers and choreographers from traditional dance with a desire to create a more contemporary language. Their paths, increasingly converging, naturally led them to become inseparable collaborators. They are joined by various collaborators, regular or occasional, who feed the ecosystem of Les Archipels. This union allows choreographers Philippe Meunier and Ian Yaworski to associate in order to deepen research, creation, and production in contemporary dance. Like an archipelago, Les Archipels bring together different creators and artists who unite their strengths while maintaining their individuality and uniqueness.

Residency project

This creation, titled En Paral·lel, delves into an in-depth exploration of the notions of tradition and modernity, merging elements of traditional Quebec and Catalan folklore with contemporary expressions. Through choreographic vocabulary, it seeks to highlight the cultural richness and diversity of movements inherent to these traditions while reinterpreting them from a current perspective.
