In this school stage, we aimed to focus on body awareness and presence, both in one’s own movements and in those of others. Bodies that are and exist (within the classroom), bodies that learn (from other bodies), bodies that move (without being fully aware). The participating primary schools were Escola SEAT and Escola Bàrkeno.
Actions:
- Escola SEAT began its relationship with Graner through a teacher training session led by Gemma Palet and participation in the school performance Jungla by Big Bouncers. The academic year ended with a commitment to continue working together throughout 2019–2020, in order to further strengthen relationships and expand the programme of activities within the classroom.
- Escola Bàrkeno undertook a review of the body and movement exercises and practices developed over recent years with children aged 3 to 12 (building on work initiated through the Tàndem project between Escola Bàrkeno and Mercat de les Flors–Graner). On one hand, a workshop was proposed for Dance Day for students in 4th to 6th grade, led by Laila Tafur, a resident artist at Graner. On the other hand, a collaboration was developed with choreographer Sonia Gómez, an associate artist at Graner: several classroom observation sessions were held to expand the teaching team’s practical tools. For the 2019–2020 school year, we committed to continuing this collaboration both in the classroom and through faculty meetings.
