We have invited Violetta Cottini to lead an open lab for the local community, where she will share the materials and methodology she is developing during her residency at Graner, within the framework of the centre’s cross-residency programme, in dialogue with Santarcangelo Festival (Italy). Together with her, we have created a context for transmission in which she will open the working studio and offer a lab for both professionals and non-professionals, under the title Fey.
The workshop is conceived as both an opening and a deep dive into the ongoing research of the project. It offers a shared space to explore fantastical territories in which bodies, imaginative spaces, and materials interact, generating potential perceptual shifts. Starting from nocturnal atmospheres and the concept of “elsewhere,” participants will be invited to activate imagination as a tool for transformation and world-building. We will speak of dragons and fantastical creatures, and investigate thresholds between the visible and the invisible, as well as between the minuscule and the vast. The laboratory invites participants to enter altered states of perception, where reality can be slightly distorted, allowing the emergence of fantastical presences and new possible ways of experiencing.
