An Articulated Whole is the name I have used in recent years to describe what I consider essential when practicing and transmitting dance improvisation. For me, the body is an articulated totality, not only because it is composed of visible parts, but also because there are other dimensions of the body—such as the emotional and the mental—that form part of this whole and cannot be overlooked in training. Dancing, for me, is about the ability to integrate our entire being through movement.
For this reason, organizing our attention while moving is a basic condition within the method. In terms of content, we will work on dance through exercises focused on different speeds and durations of movement. We will approach dance not from the perspective of “WHAT MOVEMENT AM I DOING?”, but rather from “HOW DOES THIS FEEL?”. The aim is to study dance based on the sensations generated by different dynamics and how each of them produces a specific perceptual state in our body.
We are looking to form a group of people of any age with some experience in movement practice.
