Project Z creates a space and time for meeting, collective listening, and knowledge transfer among all participants, aiming to create a map of shared questions, concerns, and potentialities that generate reflections, as well as possible collective tools and resources. The project is structured through group moments and individual conversations. Under the question “What is moving in Barcelona?”, in 2023, we had the collaboration of artists Carolina Campos and Sara Manubens as co-curators of the project, which had its group meeting on December 18th and 19th.
The starting point was the configuration of the group, in the words of Sara and Carolina: “we determined that there must be representation of different bodies, different practices at the boundaries between Dance, Theater, and Performance, different political ideas and therefore different approaches to creation and production. These relationships, therefore, must be dialectical, they must provoke fissures that in turn generate questions; emerging artistic practices must question each other to shift and reformulate each other. It is in this clash of dialectics that the context can complicate, progress, or regress, some to stop the machinery and its intensity to know what is being done, in other cases to overproduce because urgent things need to be said. In any case, the group was created from a gender and migrant perspective, trans-inclusive, and taking into account a combination of funded and unfunded works.”
We convened different artistic practices, all revolving around the body, visuality, and text.
